Kenya Part 1: Our Team

I've decided to break up my Kenya posts so that I can make sure and say all that I want to about each part of our trip. First I thought I'd introduce our team...
Our team was led by Derrick, a close friend and the youth pastor at our church in Perth. He's been to Africa twice on Loveworks trips with Point Loma and has a huge heart for missions. He also birthed the idea of The Way, the discipleship group this trip came out of. The other sponsor was Karen Starks, our pastor's wife. She is from Chicago and has lived here in Scotland for over five years. It was her first trip to Africa. Along with Derrick, Karen, Rusty and myself were 4 teens from the church.
There were 3 girls...Chennice, 16, who is considering a call to missions, Shawna, 17, who is leaving school this year to study coaching, Stephanie,16, who is leaving school this year to study childcare and one brave boy, Gregor, who will leave school next year and is thinking about studying accounting. We were supposed to be joined by Catriona, but unfortunately, she had some health trouble before our trip began and was unable to join us. The group has been meeting together weekly for Bible study for several months as well as fund-raising and training for the trip. Once there we joined up with some amazing ladies who had given up weeks and months of their time to serve the children, Anne and Sheila
We were friends before but the trip turned us into a team, bound by a common purpose. It was such a joy to share this trip with such amazing people and to get to know them better. Here's a few group photos...
