A Weekend in Northern Ireland

Randy and Barbara (Rusty's parents) have just left Scotland after spending 2 weeks with us. It was their first visit AND their first time out of the US, so they made the most of it seeing lots of Scotland, Northern England, and Ireland. Unfortunately I had to work quite a bit, but I did get time off for 2 day trips and 2 weekends away.
The first weekend we went to Northern Ireland which was gorgeous. We took our car on the ferry so that we could drive around a bit. After spending a few hours in Belfast (ok, but pretty unremarkable to me as far as cities go), we drove to the Antrim Coast and stayed at the Torr Brae Bed and Breakfast. In the morning we did the mile walk to Torr Brae, an old Coast Guard station. Then we headed to the Giant's Causeway, a stunning formation resulting from a volcanic eruption on the beach, the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, an old fisherman's bridge, and Dunluce Castle. I'm so glad we had the opportunity to go. It was a great time together, and as you can see, it was all well worth the trip...

I do have to mention one particular event on the trip. After checking int our B&B, we took a drive to Ballycastle for dinner and saw these 3 lambs in the road.
They had gotten out of the pasture, couldn't figure out how to get back in, and were grazing on the road right after a blind turn. We were afraid someone was going to hit them, so we decided to try and get them back in. They got scared when we parked, so we elected Rusty to try and shepherd them back. At first, they ran from him. Then, he was inspired to lure them with grass...
It worked! After a bit of hesitancy, they ran right over and allowed Rusty to "shepherd" them back into their pasture. If you look at the left corner of the bottom picture, you can see the lambs jumping back into the field.
We were very impressed!

Aw, what BEAUTIFUL places! I'm glad you got to sightsee with Randy and Barbara. AND, I'm proud of Rusty and his shepherding skills. =)
