Road Trip to Stirling

Yesterday we took advantage of our Historic Scotland membership and spent the day at Stirling Castle. According to Historic Scotland, "It towers over some of the most important battlefields of Scotland’s past including Stirling Bridge, the site of William Wallace’s victory over the English in 1297, and Bannockburn where Robert the Bruce defeated the same foe in the summer of 1314." It was impressive, yet disappointing as the "palace" is being restored and is closed, greatly reducing the viewable portion of the castle. However, we also got to tour the nearby Argyll Lodgings, said to be the "most splendid and complete example of a 17th century townhouse". Fun times!
