I've mentioned before that Rusty and I have been sponsoring a youth discipleship group called The Way. This past weekend was the end of a significant time of biblical study for us and we had a weekend away at Nunraw, a Cistercian Abbey with a hospitality house available for spiritual retreat. Derrick, Dayna, Sundeep, Rusty, myself, and 8 out of our 11 students hit the road; it was a very special time of reflection and fellowship.
Some of the highlights were communal meals where our students really stepped up to serve, a silent walk of reflection that led to a really special sharing time, fellowship through frisbee and teaching our kids to play Mafia, walking up to the Abbey to observe the monks in prayer and reflection, small group time with one of my girls (the other couldn't make it), an interactive walk through the biblical narrative we've studied, and a closing time where the students made commitments about continuing along The Way.
I was so proud of these kids as I watched some of their learning come together and saw them make the tough choice to continue following Christ in a culture where faith has become foreign. It is truly my pleasure to walk with them, and even when we leave Scotland, I know that we walk along The Way together.

Lauren, that is so incredible. I know how much I looked up to my youth group mentors when I was a teenager so I know how these teens must feel about you and Rusty! Thanks for sharing...
